Prairie Dogs Kiss and Lobsters Wave: How Animals Say Hello
Published in School & Library Binding by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (October, 1998)
Average review score:

Prairie Dogs KissI first picked up this book for the title. I thought it was so cute! The pictures and content are great for teaching children about how animals greet each other. Everyone knows that dogs sniff each other, but how many know that Prairie dogs kiss each other, and bite each other if they don't like the other prairie dog! Or that lobsters really do wave at each other. Mrs. Singer gives examples of many different animals and how they greet each other. I think most children from age 8 and up will enjoy this book.

Prairie Falcon

...love plays out upon an arcing continuum..Jim Cohn's first book, a wonderfully ragged compilation capped by the troubled identity of the title character, a soaring bird awed by natural wonder & cursed by an empathy with the suffering world below. For Cohn, love plays out upon an arcing continuum & is not to be categorized. This truth gives Cohn his great range, encompassing as many moments of his experiences as he can get into words. He is not concerned if his poems wander from baseball to the high mountains & then into cramped apartments where small gestures assume the proportions of Times Square billboards. Nor does it matter if at one moment he expresses a quiet, Buddhist acceptance of events while in the next he is screaming because someone cuts out his heart & squeezes it. His contradictions are so human that they build a strong trustworthiness between himself & the reader. Without trust, poetry is useless.

Prairie Heat
Published in Paperback by Leisure Books (September, 1991)

Prairie HeatPrairie Heat was one of the first of Baker's books that I readand it kept me coming back for more. Every time you figure out whatis going to happen the plot takes a different route. I loved the factthat she showed that love happens no matter how bad you don't want itto. If you are looking for adventure, thrills and of course romancethen this book is for you. A book I recommend and have reread myself.

Prairie in Her Heart: Pioneer Women of North Dakota (Voices of America)
Published in Paperback by Arcadia (15 April, 2001)
Average review score:

Super pictures and historical textThis book brings the story of the prairie woman settler to life in vivid detail. The pictures are great, and even humorous at times. My favorite - the woman sewing her child's ripped shorts as he rests on her knees.
The text catches the readers imagination and pulls them into the North Dakota frontier era with excerpts from historical diaries and documents. Wonderful book if you love the history of settling America, or are just looking for an interesting read.

ReviewPrairie Legacy is an inspiring series. Mrs. Oke has once again captured the hearts of her readers in this series about Virginia. Personally, we can relate to Mrs. Oke's characters. She has a gift of making you feel as though you were Virginia, makes you feel her feelings, anger, happiness, sadness, ect. We can't wait for the next book!

Prairie Memories from the Bauhs House
Published in Paperback by Shuab Books (August, 1991)

Personable & HistoricalThe reading is very easy in flow and full of different information on a family living in the 20-30's. It is personable for me as my grandparents are in one of the chapters. I know that the information is real and realistic for that time in our country's history.
Living on the prairie without the conveniences we all take for granted today from the washing of clothes to working on the farm. Raising a family and dealing with life during the depression and the concerns of World War ll. The personal relationships of family members as dreams had to be changed. A very good synopsis of life during the youth of our grandparents.
